Complete photographic reproduction of St. Petersburg, Russian Academy of Sciences (BAN), MS 34.7.6 (12th c.).
Introduction, descriptive synopsis, and indices of St. Petersburg, Russian Academy of Sciences (BAN), MS 34.7.6 (12th c.).
“The programme of Monumenta Musicae Byzantinae has from its inception included the old Slavic chant tradition alongside that of Byzantium. However, though valuable studies of this tradition have from time to time been published in its Série Subsidia - byVerdeil (1953), Velimirović (1960) and Hannick (1973), for example - it is 40 years since a document of the Slavic repertoire has been published in facsimile in the Série principale. It is therefore a matter of great satisfaction now to be able to follow the Fragmenta Chiliandarica Palaeoslavica, edited by Roman Jakobson (1957) and the Contacarium Palaeoslavicum Mosquense, edited by Arne Bugge (1960) with the present facsimile of the Sticherarium Palaeoslavicum Petropolitanum, edited by Nicolas Schidlovsky. The appropriateness of the manuscript for inclusion among the representative documents of this se ries and the further research to which it invites are clearly set forth in Dr. Schidlovsky's editorial discussion. It is the hope of the editorial board that the publication of this volume will encourage acceptance of these invitations.”
